In July 2002 Rock Building Supplies started as a small family business with not much more than a borrowed bakkie, 5 employees and faith, hope and trust in the future of the Klerksdorp area. By 2005 the business had grown to such an extent that they had to move to bigger premises. The new Rock Building Supplies building was erected in Barend Street, Dawkinsville, where they are positioned ideally for this industry.
Brothers Ian, Deon and Smittie Fourie come from diverse career backgrounds, but complement each other perfectly as partners. Deon has previous experience in the hardware business and has an MBA-degree which made him the obvious candidate for the position of Business and Financial Manager. Ian is experienced in the civil engineering field and management and is responsible for Internal Marketing and Public Relations. Smittie is a born marketer and takes charge of External Marketing.
They ascribe their success to competitive prices, their staff’s expertise, their central and accessible location and their emphasis on quality client service. The inspiration for the name of the business come from the Biblical lesson that a house should not be build on sand, but on a solid foundation. (Ps18:2) - The Lord is my Rock.
